Main criteria for obtaining a residence permit in Georgia for individual entrepreneurs
1. Individual Entrepreneur Registration
- The applicant must be officially registered as an individual entrepreneur (IE) in Georgia.
2. Annual turnover of the business
- The turnover of an IE must be at least 50,000 GEL (about $18,500) per year per applicant.
3. Payment of taxes
- Regular payment of taxes and the existence of financial activity that proves the real running of the business.
4. Minimum period of operation of the sole proprietorship
- It is recommended that the business has been operating for at least 3-6 months prior to application.
5. Absence of delinquencies
- Applicant must have no tax debts or offenses in Georgia.
6. Application Deadline
It is recommended to submit the application at least 40 days before the end of the term of legal stay in Georgia.
A residence permit is usually issued for 1 year with the possibility of extension. After 6 years of residence it is possible to apply for a permanent residence permit.

What documents are requaired:
- Extract from the Tax Service of Georgia on income and tax payments for the last 12 months.
- Certificate of VAT-payer status.
- Document on the number of employed employees.
- Bank statement (minimum 18,000 Gel deposit) to confirm the minimum subsistence level for several months. You can get a bank statement when you visit the bank where you have a deposit of at least 18k Gel in person.
- Copy of international passport translated into Georgian and notarized.
- Receipts for payment of the state duty, which can be paid in cash, Visa or Mastercard at the House of Justice on the day of application.
- Photo for ID card, taken at the House of Justice on the day of application.
