Main criteria for obtaining a residence permit in Georgia for business owners
1. Company registration
- The applicant must be officially registered as a member of LLC or LTD
2. Annual business turnover
- The turnover of the sole proprietorship must be at least 50,000 GEL (about $18,500) per year per foreign specialist.
3. Payment of taxes
- Regular payment of taxes and the existence of financial activity confirming the actual running of the business.
4. Minimum period of business operation
- It is recommended that the business has been operating for at least 3-6 months prior to application.
5. No violations
- Applicant must have no tax debts or delinquencies in Georgia.
6. Application Deadline
It is recommended that the application be submitted at least 40 days prior to the end of legal residency in Georgia.
A residence permit is usually issued for 1 year with the possibility of extension. After 6 years of residence it is possible to apply for a permanent residence permit.

What documents are required:
- A copy of the foreign passport with a notarized translation into Georgian.
- Documents confirming business registration and financial indicators (bank account statements of the company for at least 12 months, tax reports on taxes paid, including VAT.
- Receipts for payment of state duty, which can be paid in cash, Visa or Mastercard at the House of Justice on the day of application.
- Photo for ID card, taken at the House of Justice on the day of application.
