Important to know:

• The application for extension must be submitted no later than 40 calendar days before the end of the current residence permit
• The reason for the extension must still be valid and documented.
• If the basis is changed, it can be submitted as a ‘new’ application.
• Renewal is possible for the same period of time or longer than the period of the original authorisation
• The grounds for extending the residence permit, as well as the terms for which the residence permit can be extended, depend on the basis on which it was initially granted. The period of stay in Georgia is also relevant. If the migration authorities consider that the person applying for the extension of the residence permit does not really need it because he/she spends most of the time outside Georgia, the extension may be refused.
